The BGSO is composed of two groups of musicians: instrumentalists and choir! Both groups have rehearsals at the same time in the same building, just in different rooms. Many of our musicians even do both and are able to play their instrument on one piece, and then sing in a different one. We are very understanding of wanting to participate in both sections of the group and are happy to discuss the logistics of making this work. Also, our choir director will often arrange pieces that are considered "mega choir" pieces, meaning that anyone, even instrumentalists that normally do not take part in choir, are welcome to sing along with the choir and form one large vocal group. The overall goal of our group is to have fun making music with a GREAT community and we try to take every step to ensure that happens.
Our orchestra is led by Tad Howley, known as our magnificent conductor as he has the showmanship to prove it on the podium. Don't believe us? Check out one of our concerts in person or the videos on our YouTube channel! (/BaltimoreGSO) He excels at actively working to harness and refine all musical skills and backgrounds our instrumentalists bring to the stage to create an exciting performance.
Our choir is led by Ethan Hart, a teacher by vocation who loves helping people find their voice. Don't think you can sing? Never fear, Ethan is here! He excels at making sure the BGSO's vocalists are able to sing with the best sounds they can, even if they have never taken a lesson in their life! Although not every video game tune has a vocal part, when one does, our choir very much shines through.
