Puzzled Solo Auditions (Fall 2025)

Auditions are WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27th.

We will still have a rehearsal that day as well in the other room. Tad will be working on one piece at the beginning of rehearsal, and then will switch out with Jax for the remainder as each conductor will sit in for auditions on the pieces they conduct. Audition Day Schedule

Information on these is in the Dropbox:

  • Most of the voice solos are in the choir or SATB part if they don't have an individual part for the solo.
  • Linking to the Moiety has it's own folder for the narration, all information is inside.
  • The instrumental solos for The Unwound Future have sheets by key in its folder and are for any instrument that can play the parts as written
  • Tinykin has it's solos marked in the parts that are able to take solos (saxes, trumpet, trombones, guitar, bass guitar).

Chellakutty - Baritone voice Solo -  As close to original as possible.

Connected (Yours Forever) - Soprano/Alto voice Duet -  Looking to match the pop style vocals. Add on ornamentation, breathy voice, pretty sound.

Hold It! - baritone/bass voice  solo  -  “Heroic, rich and deep!”- Rob

Linking to the Moiety - narration: low male voice  -  Reference original version of narration, tired old man who’s seen some stuff. Gravelly voice

Plants vs. Zombies - alto or mezzo voice solo  -  A merging of the original and an “old timey jazz.” See Mack the Knife for the inspiration

The Spy and The Liar - tenor voice solo  -  Colin has provided a wealth of information on what this song is about and what is being looked for in this piece in the score information. Do yourself a service and look through it.

The Unwound Future - instrument, 1-4 spots, PLAYED AS WRITTEN ON THE SHEETS PROVIDED (parts in the dropbox, ask if you need another key)  You are playing one of the four parts as written in the sheet. You can simplify a run, bump things up and down an octave, or even an extra lick or two, however it should be 90% the original.

Tinykin - jazz instrumental solo, improvised, 2 spots. Trumpet, trombone, saxophone, guitar, or bass -  Lucky Chops inspired over the top brass action lawsuit.

Virgo Serena and The Fall of Gehenna - tenor  voice solo  -  Match to the original, tenor voice. Gregorian Plainchant style.
