[Playlist and notes will be updated sometime between Thursday and Tuesday night after rehearsal! :)]
The Lake Beckons:
M. 72-73 If you have a whole note tied to an eighth note make sure that cuts off right on beat 1. Suspended cymbal roll should be the loudest ever
M. 66-68 staggered entrances here make sure that the entrances can be heard on the beat then back off
M. 74 hairpin dynamics, make sure that they start very very soft there mp < mf make sure the low point isn’t too loud
M. 83 flutes: make sure you take the breath mark here together
Seashore War:
Keep in mind the dynamic contrasts between sections so that we aren’t just playing a single volume throughout
M. 17 and 33 have several rhythms that are playing against one another, make sure that you are playing what’s on your page precisely and not mixing up the rhythms so that they don’t blend together and become indistinct
M. 24 the melody here is in the strings and guitar, make sure that everything else stays underneath that where that melody pops up
M. 74: possibly might conduct in 6, keep aware of that and watch the conductor
Surfing Hoenn
M. 72 the 6/8 is just trying to transition into the next section, which is 12/8 so the 6/8 is to help you get to the next sections
M. 129 dotted quarter = quarter for now going from 12/8 to 6/4
M. 209 Everyone has the same rhythm here, so lock in the articulation
The Mess I Made
M. 62 if you have an eighth rest on four here make sure you observe the rest and come in precisely
Beginning: be as soft as possible all the way to 14, there should be NO crescendos until 14
